I don’t have to tell anyone how difficult this year has been. With the global pandemic, social injustice, and all the lives, jobs, and businesses that have been lost—fear and anxiety are at an all-time high. But yet, God is still with us. I might have been surprised about the many disappointments this year, but God was not. In fact, He told us in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that you can have peace because of me. In this world you will have trouble. But be encouraged! I have won the battle over the world.” So how does one stay hope-filled and faith-filled even in the midst of disappointments? Here are some things I’ve discovered about disappointment this year… Name it – It’s helpful to name our disappointments by crying it out, journaling, or sharing with loved ones. And there’s something beautiful in knowing that regardless of the discouragement and disappointment, we can go to the Lord, and “He will hear my cry.” Psalm 40:1 Grieve it – While it may be easier to suppress, ignore, and continue life as usual, when we allow ourselves to grieve, we can begin healing. Use it – No matter the situation, God can use our stories to bring hope, encouragement, and healing, whether in our lives or someone else’s life. Worship God – When we fix our gaze on God, we will see the many ways God is showing up in our lives, take count of what we do have, count our blessings, and enjoy His presence. God loves us and is with us, even in the midst of our disappointments. And His plans are good, even when our circumstances do not feel good. Last week, my daughter called me crushed in spirit, grieving the repeated postponement of her wedding because of the pandemic. I reminded her that our world may be changing but our God is not. Life may be unfolding, but blessings are falling and good things are coming. In fact, they’re already here. What a gift that we can invite God into the good, messy, painful, uncertain, and everything in between. By Lilly Brodbeck, Propel Chapter Leader in San Diego, CA

I love this article, thank you for writing it.
I am a Christian man who is worried how our modern day culture seems to be growing further and further away from Christ centered relationships. I am newly married to my high school sweetheart and I have an Instagram account where I feature posts of what a Christian based relationship looks like and the excitement and joy it brings. If you would be interested in talking or collaborating please let me know! I would love to be in one of your write ups, or feature your message on my page. Thank you for what you are doing! -Coleman Peavy
